Privacy Policy

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information: your name, email address, and authentication details when you register or sign in.
• Membership information: your full name, South African ID number, date of birth, gender, physical address, province, city, branch, postal code, mobile number, and email address, where you choose to register as a member or apply for a membership card.
• Profile content: profile photos and any other information you choose to add to your profile.
• User-generated content: news comments, community discussions, prayer requests, event RSVPs, volunteer and recruitment records, service desk tickets, and donations you make through the App.
• Payment information: donation and membership payment details. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
• Device and usage information: device type, operating system, app version, and general usage data used to keep the App secure and working correctly.
• Location information: if you grant permission, your approximate location is used to show nearby branches and events. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
• Notification token: a push notification token so we can send you updates you have opted into.

We use the information we collect to:

• create and manage your account and verify your identity and membership status;
• issue and display your digital membership card and QR code;
• provide news, events, community, prayer, and media features within the App;
• process donations, membership payments, and issue receipts and invoices;
• send you notifications, announcements, and updates related to the party and your account;
• respond to your service desk tickets and support requests;
• maintain the security, integrity, and performance of the App; and
• comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances and with the following types of parties:

• Authorised ACDP administrators and moderators: designated party staff and officials may access member and membership records to verify memberships, manage events, respond to support requests, and administer the platform.
• Service providers: trusted third parties that help us operate the App, including cloud hosting and database providers, email and push notification services, and payment processors. These providers only process your information to deliver services to us and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
• Within the App: information you choose to post publicly (such as comments, discussions, prayer requests, or your display name) is visible to other users of the App.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information where required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the ACDP, our users, or the public.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Membership and payment records may be retained for the periods required by applicable law. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These include access controls, encrypted connections, and restricted administrative access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and applicable law, you have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you;
• request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
• request deletion of your information, subject to legal retention requirements;
• object to or restrict certain processing of your information;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
• manage device permissions (such as location and notifications) in your device settings.

You can update much of your information directly in your profile within the App. For other requests, contact us using the details below, or see our account deletion page to request deletion of your account.

The App is intended for use by members and supporters of the ACDP. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

The App may contain links to third-party websites and services, including payment processors and external party resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
